JAM SESSION (2000), BY BOB RANKIN
ACQUIRED FROM THE ARTIST, RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA, DECEMBER 2000
INK ON PAPER
Whenever I see Bob Rankin's work, I am invariably reminded of jazz music... I guess it stems from the fact that the first place I ever saw Bob's work was in Cappers Restaurant in Raleigh, which features a jazz ensemble so that you can listen to cool jazz while you eat. (Bob's work covers the walls at Cappers.)

Anyway, when I saw a series of these works at Bob's Holiday Houdio in December 2000, I decided that I would acquire whichever of the group seemed the coolest to me... this particular work features a sextet consisting of two guitars, a saxophone, a trombone, a clarinet, and a trumpet. These guys are clearly jamming quite well.
